Developed by Molly Shanahan, Spiral Body Techniques® (SBT) is both a technique class and a rethinking of technique—an invitation to explore movement as an ongoing dialogue with the body’s potential rather than a fixed set of skills or the capacity to replicate form.

In this class, we’ll spiral through fluid, whole-body pathways, progressing from floor to bipedal to locomotive movement, guided by principles including softening rigidity, cultivating awareness, and refining discernment. This is a space to embrace your unique physicality, tap into ease, weight, detail, and strength, and deepen your connection to movement as an intelligent, evolving practice.

WE WILL DANCE.

Discover new pathways to expressivity, excellence, and ease—not by striving for external ideals or replicated forms, but by unraveling unnecessary tension and inhabiting movement with your innate intelligence and capacity for embodied freedom.

Re-educate the corseting musculature for adaptable, orchestral, and grounded abdominals that author movement rather than constrain physical outlines. Release compulsive holding patterns, like the demand to maintain one’s flesh “in and up.” Cultivate ball-and-socket joint coordination, complexity, and kinesiological realness, allowing movement to emerge from a place of lived intelligence in relationship to space.

Why? Because we can expand what is considered beautiful, what is "performance-worthy," and how we see and are seen. Through curiosity and benevolence, we challenge inherited ideas about bodies—not to discard them, but to make space for what else is possible.
